Trusting Through Life’s Turns

Trusting Through Life’s Turns

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

(Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV)

Life does not run in straight lines. It bends through seasons of sunshine and seasons of storm, and in every turn Solomon points us to the same place: the Lord Himself. Damon Morgan opened Proverbs 3:5-6 and called us to a trust that rests not in what we can figure out, but in who God is.

A call to complete confidence. Solomon calls for total surrender to God and total trust in God, when the sun is shining and when the storm is raging. It is a trust that says, “Lord, I don’t know how You will do it, but I know You can.”

A caution against carnal calculations. When we lean on our own understanding, we try to shrink God down to the size of our own logic. But when we stop leaning on what we know and start leaning on who we know, God makes our path straight. Lean on the limitless Lord rather than your limited logic.

A commitment to continual consultation. Trust is not a one-time decision; it is a daily conversation. We are called to be in conversation with God all the time, bringing Him into every decision, large and small.

Wherever your path is turning this week, the God who made it can make it straight.
